In addition to the recent upgrades to its estate, St Dunstan’s College in south-east London continues to prioritize the enhancement of its facilities to provide an exceptional learning environment for its students. Recognized for its outstanding educational offerings, the college has garnered prestigious awards such as Co-Educational School of the Year in 2020 and Independent Senior School of the Year in 2022 by TES.
Seeking to further enrich the educational experience, the college wanted to create additional covered space for Junior School pupils to use. They decided to install two Spaceshade playground canopies on a first-floor balcony, offering sheltered areas for outdoor learning and play. Additionally, a shade sail was installed in the playground below, protecting from the sun during outdoor playtime.
Undertaking this project presented a unique challenge, as it involved groundworks on a first-floor balcony. Kensington Systems project managed the entire installation process from the initial design stages to the completion of groundworks, canopy installation, and even repairs to the rubber crumb ground surface in the playground. This ensured a straightforward, friction-free experience for the college, who are delighted with their new facilities.
