Ellis Guilford School Expands Dining Space with New Canopy Installation

Ellis Guilford School wanted to expand its dining capacity and improve the lunchtime experience for students by creating additional covered dining space on site. 

The investment was driven by the need to avoid staggered lunch breaks, allowing more pupils to dine at the same time while encouraging social interaction and a stronger sense of community during breaks. 

Kensington Systems delivered a bespoke SpaceMax dining canopy, installed in the playground adjacent to an existing SpaceShade dining canopy that had been installed several years earlier.

The new structure is fully enclosed with glazed side walls and has integrated heating and lighting, creating a comfortable, weather-protected environment that can be used throughout the year regardless of weather.

To maximise capacity and functionality, the school selected long communal dining tables, making the most efficient use of the available space while encouraging students to eat and socialise together.

Designed and installed in accordance with current building regulations, the completed facility provides Ellis Guilford School with a modern, practical dining environment that enhances both operational efficiency and the student experience.
