Billingshurst Primary Academy, part of Sussex Learning Trust, wanted to extend teaching and play beyond the classroom while keeping pupils protected from the elements.
With limited indoor breakout space and a strong focus on outdoor learning, the school needed a robust, low-maintenance canopy that would work year-round for lessons, small-group interventions, and lunchtime cover—without creating extra workload for site teams.

The slimline frame and integrated guttering keep the structure neat and unobtrusive, while the high-performance roof allows natural light through and provides reliable protection from rain and UV.
The layout was planned to maintain clear circulation routes, with finishes selected to complement the school’s existing façade.
Installation was scheduled to minimise disruption, with most works taking place during the school holidays. Our team managed groundworks, foundations and final fix within a tightly controlled programme, leaving the area fully reinstated and ready for immediate use.

Since completion, the new space has given teachers a dependable, flexible area for teaching and play throughout the year. The canopy has helped the school make more consistent use of its outdoor curriculum, and improved overall pupil flow between classrooms and the playground.
