Nether Stowe School in Lichfield, Birmingham aims to be a safe, happy, inclusive school where everyone has the opportunity to flourish and excel.
Established in 1964 and now part of the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership, the school is dedicated to reducing inequality both inside and outside the classroom.
They wanted to cover two sheltered courtyards to provide sheltered dining and social space for students during breaks. Studies have shown that increased social interaction between students not only boosts emotional wellbeing but can also improve academic results.
Arthur Terry Learning Partnership chose to install two Spaceshade dining canopies due to its high quality and modular, low maintenance design, enabling straightforward installation in an otherwise tight space. The sheltered courtyard location helps to provide weather protection without needing additional side walls.
The new canopies were powdercoated in red to match the school colours. Adding vibrancy to the school grounds, red represents power, courage and strength.
