SpaceMax Dining Canopy Generates Renewable Energy at Cleeve School

Posted by Admin

Cleeve School in Cheltenham is a highly successful 'all-through' secondary school, educating students from Year 7 to Year 13. With some of the best academic results in the country, Cleeve School has invested heavily in teachers and resources to provide a broad, enriching curriculum and ensure pupils continue to succeed.

The school needed more dining space, which would be comfortable and usable throughout the year.

They got in touch with Kensington Systems. We worked with Cleeve School to design and install a new SpaceMax outdoor dining canopy, with glass walls and doors, lighting, heating, and solar panels on the roof.

The glazed walls provide abundant light inside the building. The lighting and heaters provide warmth and ambiance during the winter months, while providing space for over 200 children to eat and socialise.

Recent research has pointed up the important role of social bonding at school, in not only boosting pupil wellbeing but also academic achievement, and providing dining canopies can help facilitate this.

Cleeve School also chose to have 40 solar panels installed on the roof of the canopy. The panels generate in excess of 30,000 kWh per year from the sun, helping the school reduce its energy bills and free up budget for investment in other areas.

The renewable energy the canopy generates also helps them reduce their carbon footprint.
