Innovative Canopy Installation Transforms Hacton Primary School's Outdoor Space

When the new Hacton Primary School building was being constructed in Hornchurch, the Headteacher was looking for a canopy solution that matched the school’s modern design.

 

After discovering the Spaceshade system, it quickly became the preferred choice.

The school wanted to create a flexible outdoor learning area. The space needed to feel open in good weather but still provide shelter when conditions changed. The goal was to make the area usable all year round for learning, play and social activities.

Kensington Systems provided a solution using retractable external blinds. The blinds fit neatly into the canopy design and maintain its clean, modern appearance. They can be operated by wall switch, remote control or app, making them simple and convenient for staff to use.

When the blinds are not needed, they roll up neatly out of sight. When lowered fully or partially, they provide protection from wind and rain while still keeping the space bright and welcoming.

Large crystal-clear window panels allow natural light into the area and give children clear visibility outside. The finished result is a comfortable and practical outdoor space that pupils can enjoy throughout the year.
