Ruth Gorse Academy, Leeds
Kensington have recently installed a large 14m x 10m outdoor dining canopy at the Ruth Gorse Academy in Leeds.
The canopy includes automated Enclosashade external blinds with vision panels, which can be controlled by a remote control handset. The handset allows each blind to be controlled individually or in groups.
Fitted to three sides of the dining canopy along with top infill panels, the blinds provide wind and weather protection and enable the dining area to be used all year round.
We provided a complete service including the necessary groundworks, installation of the canopy and programming of the automated blinds.

Amazon Wakefield
Kensington is set to install bespoke cycle shelters, bus shelters and smoking shelters at the two million square foot ‘Wakefield Hub’ Amazon distribution centre this summer.
Once completed, the vast warehouse space will include three mezzanine floors and will be fitted out to operate as an Amazon Robotic Sortable Facility.
Wakefield Hub is targeting a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’ and and EPC rating of ‘A’ and includes many sustainable features, such as photovoltaic panels, EV charging points, cycle shelters and a bus terminal to encourage the use of more sustainable methods of transport.

TQEC – Bristol Digital Futures Institute
We are working with a well-established local contractor to install automated electric rooflight blinds and a six metre height stage curtain system as part of the refurbishment of two former industrial buildings in the heart of Bristol.
These will create a new state of the art research hub for the Bristol Digital Futures Institute and MyWorld, part of Bristol University. The two programmes focus on areas such as digital innovation and new technologies, strengthening the university’s position as one of the UK’s leading higher education institutions.
The new facilities will form part of Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC), a new cutting-edge research facility for Bristol University. The new campus will include both academic and residential accommodation, regenerating the centre of Bristol and providing thousands of new homes and jobs.

HERE and NOW, Thames Valley Business Park
Kensington were contracted by Overbury in spring 2021 to replace two existing steel entrance canopies with new, sustainable, visually stunning glulam timber canopies at the new HERE and NOW buildings at Thames Valley Business Park (formerly part of the Microsoft Campus).
Recently completed, the new design features exposed glulam timber beams on the underside, with a GRP roofing solution. Lighting is integrated underneath the canopy with rooftop planting and signage on top.
The newly fitted-out buildings are designed with premium facilities and a focus on wellness and sustainability. Located just off the M4, HERE and NOW will become a prime location for businesses in the Thames Valley.
Abbey Primary School, Neath
Kensington have recently installed steel cantilever school canopies to this futuristic new school in Neath, South Wales.
The school will cater for 520 pupils in Neath Abbey and will include a grass rugby pitch, a mixed used games area, plus soft and hard play areas.
Abbey Primary is part of Neath Port Talbot Council’s dynamic strategic school improvement programme. The new school is due to open around March 2022.
